Your Excellency:

I am scandalized that Georgetown University – America’s first Catholic university – has invited Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to speak at a graduation ceremony on May 18.

Not only is Sebelius publicly pro-abortion, but she issued the HHS mandate, which forces Catholic individuals and institutions to violate non-negotiable moral principles and provide for contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs.

This measure threatens the very future and freedom of the Catholic Church in America and has been strongly denounced by every U. S. Catholic Bishop. In short, our Catholic shepherds have said: “We cannot – we will not comply with this unjust law.”

Therefore, I respectfully and prayerfully trust that the Congregation for Catholic Education might, with the help of God’s grace, find a remedy for this crisis, in time.
